Swooning for Macaroonies

TREND Stylist Addie has a secret talent hidden up her always stylish sleeves. That talent is making marvelous macarons. This exotic and rare treat originates from various countries such as France and Italy. They are expensive treats that come in all colors, flavors and pretty boxes too. They are a fancy delicacy. Even John Galliano hopped on board with the macaron craze. He collaborated with a world renowned chef to make his very own limited edition pink macarons!

Now, macarons are a tricky treat. Adelaide confesses herself," It's all in the "technique", so they say. I haven't quite mastered it myself." Although they are difficult, she keeps trying and has fun every time. The perfect macaron is supposed to have an eggshell like crust and a soft almost meringue texture.

Salted caramel macarons are her favorite to make.

Here is the recipe for her favorite Parisian macarons--Salted Caramel Macarons.

Holiday Hosiery

TUESDAY ACCESSORY
Recommendation: Addie & Clarisse, TREND Stylists

Knitted and woven underclothing is now the feature addition to your outfits this holiday season. Knee high socks, ankle socks, solid colored printed tights, tights with texture and patterns, and bootie socks come in all different colors (styles that you could only dream of)!

TREND staff stylist Clarrise shared some very useful suggestions concerning knee high socks:
"They dominated for Fall Fashion Week. You can wear them casually with shorts, and some celebrities have even paired them with dresses for a more dressy ensemble. I recommend high heeled booties with socks folded down to the cuff, paired with a more feminine dress. It definitely enhances the outfit and you can really incorporate this look into your wardrobe no matter what your personal style is."

Hosiery has always been my favorite accessory. It makes me feet feel both cozy and happy. How lovely it is to see your legs covered in color or with dark patterned flowers. Can't you just imagine yourself, sinking in to the couch sipping a cup of hot cocoa while smiling about how cozy you feel?

I think will wear some tights to polish my outfit off tomorrow...how about you?

Irreverent Luxury

MONDAY MUSE
Recommendation: Addie, TREND Stylist

When you see the bubblegum pink hair, you may be reminded of Zhandra Rhodes (from last week's post on Monday), but this post is all about Miss Tarina Tarantino: "The Queen of Irreverent Luxury". She specializes in accessories such as jewelry, makeup and perfume. She has a barbie made after her too! Her saucy bold nature is echoed by bursts of color in her collections.

What I love most about Tarantino's work are her collections that follow themes. The Wizard of Oz collection is my personal favorite. I think it is appropriate that she chose this theme because of the movie's most awe-inspiring part: when the story transitions from black and white to bold technicolor. Tarantino's color is also bewilderingly beautiful.

Wouldn't you love to visit a Tarina Tarantino Botique and experience the beauteous collection yourself? You can! There is one in L.A.

These Boots Are Made For Walkin'

TUESDAY ACCESSORY
Recommendation: Addie, TREND Stylist
This Fall, lace up boots are walking their way into your closets! Having just bought a pair for myself, I can honestly state that they are both comfortable and fun to wear. These versatile boots go well with a plaid tunic (paired with leggings), a lacy skirt, or a plain dress. These boots provide many possibilities.

They are a modern twist of the 18th century lace up shoes. The twist being the height of the heel. Walk with confidence this week while you make stylish strides down Library Walk and through the forests between halls. Let these heeled boots take you to new heights!

Colour Colour Colour Colour

MONDAY MUSE
Recommendation: Addie, TREND Stylist
British Designer Zandra Rhodes is anything but plain. Her designer collections are heavy with colors and wild patterns that seem to reflect her own zany, colorful personality. Although she primarily designs clothing, she also designs wrapping paper, jewelry and more recently in 2001 costumes for the opera (which happened to be the San Diego opera!). She has designed for an quite eclectic group that includes Vogue, Freddie Mercury, and Princess Diana.

When choosing between the gray tunic and the black tunic this week. Don't (or try not to!) Try to find something to brighten up your wardrobe. Add a splash of color! Accessories tend to do the trick. Try wearing a colorful feathered headband, a brilliant bright belt or colorful jewelry. Be bold this week ;)
