Sit. Stay. Heel!
Petros Chrisostomu thinks BIG...literally. The photographs above are of oversized sculptures of heels! Although you can't wear these, you can admire adoringly. Imagine owning one of these pieces in homage to the shoe (a love we all share). If you had one of these, nobody would doubt your love of shoes...but where would you put it? :P

Would More Regulation Really Benefit the Fashion Industry?
In his post "Some Competing Economics of Copyright and Fashion," Josh Wright points out that new legislation for copyrighting fashion designs seeks to protect designers against identical knock-offs. One of the main supporters of the new bill has been Diane Von Furstenberg, but in the post "Copycats: A Tale of Two Jackets," the case is made that her design team also relies on inspiration from other brands, and that it's not just Forever 21 and H & M that could find themselves in court as a result of these new rules.
In this video from TED.com, Johanna Blakely makes a very good case for why more regulation would lead to less creativity and innovation within the fashion industry:

Little Monster Accessory

Lady Gag's new line of headphones called "Monster Heartbeats" come in three colors: black, white, and magenta. What sets apart these buds are the blocky simplified diamond shape and diamond pattern. Also, the cord is not your typical round wire. It is as flat as a shoelace. This is a trend you will absolutely go gaga for.

Color Me Wonderful

Thomas Klementsson brings not only color to your world, but fashion photos like you have only dreamed of. He is a prolific Swedish fashion photographer who in 2002, won Photographer of the Year at the Ellen Awards. What I find particularly daring about these two shots are the slashes of color that he allowed to come across the face so distinctly. The women appear as fashion warriors in their dynamic poses. Don't be fooled though. Klementsson's black and white photography is equally bold and also definitely worth looking at.

Technology Will Save Us All
"We will all need to overcome our prejudice that natural made fibers are more eco-friendly. Producing organic cotton takes an incredible amount of water to produce, which we now know is not as sustainable as we once thought it was. I believe that man-made fibers are truly the next hot trend in sustainable fashion."

Weezer is quirky, retro and laid back. All you need m'dear is a vintage tee for a touch of nostalgia, shorts to match the hot weather, a pair of toms for comfort and classic ray bans. Get One Leg Up On Them
Leggings are staying and walking into the fall fashion scene! Remember the post about Erin Wasson? Well, she must be mentioned yet again because she is the model for Pink's Ad Campaign for Fall 2010. Pinko is an Italian brand for women's fashion. They have a variety of colors and textures leggings for their Fall collection. Pinko isn't the only one though, Roberto Cavalli, Rick Owens, and Emanuel Ungaro are one of the many.
Zip, denim (jeggings), lace, abstract printed, neutral and ripped looking leggings are all in.

A Shoe Lover's Dream

Customization has become the norm for everything from laptops and cellphones to bespoke clothing, to the point which all of these services are readily available online, but there is one area which so far has remained untouched: the made-to-order shoe. Even though the cult of the "it bag" has given way to the "it shoe", somehow neither Manolo or Christian have taken custom shoes to the next level by offering an online custom shoe service. After all, custom suits can be ordered online from Hong Kong, so why not a pair of fashionable heels? Now the website Shoes of Prey has made this quick and easy, offering a service that allows you to design your own pair of custom shoes and have them shipped to your door.

The interface for building your shoe is easy to use and fun. You can select the style of shoe first, such as ballet flat, bootie, gladiator or peeptoe pump then select materials and colors. As you go through the process, you can choose from approximately 75 different kinds of leather ranging from snakeskin to patent leather, in a variety of different colors. In fact, there are so many choices, it's difficult to decide on just one style or color.

It's Alive!
Mattijs van Bergen and landscape architect Anouk Vogel collaborated on a project together. "Living Dress" is a speciality dress that is made out of recycled tubes, each acting as a vase that safely keeps enough water for a small flower. The dress's look changes depending on what flower is used, how many are used, and which vase the wearer decides to fill.

Eye Can See you
So here is a trend that has only grown in popularity. "Queenie eye lenses" have been increasingly popular ever since Lady Gaga's music video "Bad Romance". Miss Gaga's eye's are abnormally large in the bathtub scene making them appear doll-like. Although not medically proven safe, sales have gone up. They are sold both online and in stores. I have seen them at the Genesee Plaza Shopping Center here in San Diego. They sell for about 35 dollars a pair.

Fine Art and Fashion: Like Peanut Butter and Jelly

It's great when two different types of designers come together to create a masterpiece-that is, the fashion designer and the fine artist. Looking through "Fashions of A Decade, the 1970s" by Jacqueline Hearld, I came upon this
fabulous Andy Warhol jacket, and also an advertisement for Levi's based on Michelangelo's Sistene Chapel work. Fashion and advertising often appropriate famous works in new ways. And then there are also artists who in a sense use fashion accessories as their canvas, such as Toronto shoe artist Matthieu Missiaen, who revitalizes old high heels with his colorful street art designs. Clothing design is definitely an art, and when coupled with fine art, it becomes doubly gorgeous!

Summer Fashion Brought to Light

Summer has finally hit San Diego this August week, and as you can see, these girls are are ready for it. I spy flip flops, retro sunglasses, cardigans, designer bags, and a feminine fedora.
The sun is out, the sky is blue, it's beautiful ...and so are they!

It Glows!

First, I must confess this post is not for us ladies. However, it is really cool. These neon-dyed tanks started as simple American Apparel shirts, but a group of four college friends decided to make them into their own small line of "high quality" neon tanks. These things glow in black light!
You can get them here.

Maple Syrup

Etsy.com has always been one of my favorite site's to buy from. If you haven't heard of it, it is a site for artists to sell their art, jewelry, knick knacks, clothing and food.
I don't know about you, but this ring makes me hungry just looking at it.

Fantastically Fresh Foreign Fashion Found

Walking through the UTC, I couldn't help but stop and take a picture of these two. Simple and fresh. The guy, with his baby blue wife beater, khaki-colored shorts and high top Converse, looked buenisimo. His effortless look was complemented by the lovely lady in her summery floral shirt and black pair of flats. Both of these looks are easily attainable! These two have got summer fashion down.

Viva Las Ruched Bikinis!

It's summer time in Las Vegas, which means POOL PARTIES!!! At one of Las Vegas' newest hotspots, "The Beach Club" at Encore hotel, there's a new bikini in town. Ruched Brazilian bikini bottoms! They are super cute and super sexy, made with only one purpose in life, to flatter. With its specially designed cut and make to enhance and lift your bottoms, this will definitely be "the" investment swimsuit.
Have a fab San Diego summer,

Rock Around the Clock
Ok ok ok, so this is 69 smackaroos. That's two weeks of food for us college students, but hey, let's just admire this god of a watch. Imagine yourself wearing it going out on the town wearing a twofer dress with a pair of boots and a pair of Ray Bans. This is the ultimate retro revival accessory. It's a watch, that is in the shape. of. a. turntable. I know what I want for my birthday.
